Literacy and Libraries

Join us for an informative and educational meeting to hear what’s new and changing at libraries. It’s a direct connection to our club’s literacy focus this year.

Our speaker, Virgina McClure, is a library and information professional with a strong interest in digital information technologies and developments. She is the library director for the Anchorage Public Library, a system of five locations serving a population of 291,247 in a1,706 square mile area. She is also studying Book Arts with an emphasis on Fine Press. She has an extensive background and expertise in culinary arts and management and is interested in cataloging and digitizing culinary archives and the impact this shared knowledge can have on understanding women's history. She is currently studying the art of printmaking and bookbinding to better understand the book as an artifact and art form.
