RYLA - Rotary Youth Leadership Awards - will be in Fairbanks this march.

 

The eClub is planning on sending one student from the Ketchikan areas, and has budgeted money to send two additional students.  We need members to help find and coordinate those local contacts!

What that member will be doing - in brief - is working with a local club to select students from the High School, and get the appropriate paperwork back to Brian.  You do not necessarily need to attend the event in Fairbanks yourself.  Contact Brian or Julie if you have more questions about that.

Good news, Everyone!

 

Mr. Dan Nelson - formerly of the Soldotna Rotary Club - has expressed interest in joining the 5010 eClub.  His previous club tells us that Dan was a member in good standing with Soldotna, and that while they have accepted his resignation, are sad to see him leave.  Dan, we welcome you to join our meetings in the coming year!  Hopefully with the transitions in your life right now, our Saturday morning meeting will provide you some flexibility (8:00am AK, 9:00am OR/WA/CA) Coffee is on the house (your house).

 

This is a period for officers and members to consider Mr. Nelson as a potential new member.  If you have comments, please let us know!

In January, the eClub membership will have the opportunity to vote on officers for the 2017/2018 year.

If you have a comment or question about any of the nominees, please speak up!  You can also nominate another member, or nominate yourself!  Please let a current board member know if you have another name to offer up.  We all share the load in operations of the club.

The idea behind the Big Clean:

Trash and litter are everywhere - if it doesn't belong on the ground, we take a moment to pick it up when we can.  It means we are literally making the world just a little bit healthier to live in.

President-Elect Sharon sent in a story about a woman who has been doing this on her own for some time - Rotarian in action, if not in name. Good job, Kay! What a wonderful role-model for the world to look at and see.  My own hope is that when something is left clean, it is less likely to be trashed.

 

January will be an important month for members to be engaged in the meetings! In addition to looking at the Officer positions for 2017/2018, we'll have a guest speaker about eClub success, and will be finishing up the Visioning Sessions.

 

Visioning Sessions led by Gayle Knepper have been productive, engaging the membership in conversations about how we imagine the club could look in 2019.  Two more meetings in January will be devoted toward goal-setting, and to drafting actionable steps to start us in that direction.  Many thanks to all the club members and guests who have joined us so far! 

 

The meetings in January will be on the 14th, 21st and 28th.  Yes, there will be three! 

The 14th will feature guest speaker Hal Kibbie, presenting on a successful eClub in Northern California.

The 21st will be Gayle Knepper, continuing the Visioning Sessions

The 28th will be Wanda Cooksey closing out the Visioning.
